The Role:
Teneo.ai seeks a Senior Legal Counsel or Head of Legal & GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) to help us manage all legal matters for our fast-growing AI SaaS company. This role is ideal for an innovative, detail-oriented, and hands-on legal professional ready to tackle a fast-growing AI SaaS company’s international expansion with an increased number of commercial interactions with customers and partners. As part of Teneo.ai Legal team, you will drive the legal and regulatory expansion of our company into key markets, starting with the United States.
As part of the role, you will draft and manage legal documents, including commercial SaaS customer and partnership agreements, and being a legal partner to our New Sales team in the US, oversee all legal aspects of our business, and offer guidance and advice to management, as well as develop and implement robust governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks. Teneo.ai wants to continue to lead the industry in terms of Governance, Risk & Compliance, and experience from and professional certification in these areas are advantageous.
Objectives of This Role:
- Offer legal guidance and advice to business professionals.
- Clarify legal language.
- Ensure our company meets legal compliance standards.
- Draft and review legal contacts.
- Oversee all general legal operations.
- Review overall business strategies to identify potential risk (or opportunity).
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory:
- Provide expert legal counsel and guidance on a wide range of legal issues to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Review and draft legal agreements, contracts, and other legal documents, particularly commercial SaaS customer and partnership agreements.
- Oversee, support, and manage all general legal operations for the company.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making and identify potential risks and liabilities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide legal advice on various business initiatives, projects, and transactions.
- Represent the organization in legal proceedings and negotiations, if required.
Governance, Risk, and Compliance:
- Develop and implement effective governance, risk management, and compliance strategies and frameworks.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organization’s operations.
- Establish and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Oversee internal audit activities and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Provide guidance and training to employees on compliance-related matters.
- Ensure the company maintains industry leadership in the Governance, Risk, and Compliance area (ISO/SOC2 certifications).
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with senior management and other departments to align legal and GRC strategies with overall organizational goals.
- Liaise with external legal counsel and other relevant stakeholders to obtain specialized legal advice and support.
- Represent the organization in meetings, negotiations, and interactions with external stakeholders, such as government authorities, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Law degree from an accredited university.
- Well-versed in legal terminology and operations and excellent familiarity with operations of an international SaaS company, including internal and external business practices and operations.
